Rolfes Henry is proud to announce that Matthew F.X. Craven, an Associate in our Cincinnati, Ohio office, has been conferred the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
The CPCU designation is generally considered to be the most prestigious credential in the property and casualty insurance industry. Less than 100,000 individuals have attained the CPCU designation since it was established in 1943. The CPCU designation is conferred by The Insurance Institute of America and The American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (collectively, The Institutes) to insurance industry professionals who have met certain requirements in the “Three E’s” – Education, Experience, and Ethics. Fulfilling the education component requires passing nine national examinations on a wide range of topics, such as insurance claims practices, risk management, and finance. While the average time to complete the education component is 2-3 years, Matt accomplished this feat in half that time.
Matt is a member of the Firm’s Insurance Coverage Team and one of the top-rated insurance coverage attorneys representing clients in Ohio and Kentucky (he has been recognized by “Super Lawyers” as a “Rising Star” for multiple years). He has authored scores of legal opinions for both national and regional insurance companies analyzing almost every type of insurance policy written. He has also worked closely with home office counsel to advise and develop insurance policy language and insurer “best practices” to guard against future litigation.
Matt additionally has represented insurance companies in hundreds of lawsuits arising out of all manner of claims, with a particular emphasis on breach of contract, bad faith, and declaratory judgment actions. He has extensive litigation, trial, and appellate experience and has served as lead counsel for numerous bench trials, jury trials, and appeals – including a win earlier this year in the Ohio Supreme Court.
Congratulations Matt!
